Explore the ins and outs of contemporary bookmaking, working towards making your own archival bound, journals, sketchbooks, albums, or Artists books. This class will introduce you to bookmaking techniques, including an in-depth knowledge of paper and its properties. Students will learn the basics of adhesives, sizing, and manipulating materials to begin the integration of bookmaking into your artistic practice. We’ll work with high-quality materials, easy-to-master skills, and step-by-step processes, while understanding and constructing several basic styles of handmade books. No experience necessary, curious beginners encouraged!
